ACIL members in its Food Sciences Section (FSS), formerly the Microanalytical Chemistry Section, perform microbiological and chemistry services to characterize composition, purity, residue content and contamination in the areas of food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and related manufacturing industries. Testing and research the safety and/or efficacy of drugs, cosmetics, food additives, medical devices, pesticides and other chemical products regulated by the FDA and by certain departments within the EPA. For members only, FSS conference calls are held the third Wednesday of each month at 3:00 pm ET.
