EMC Proficiency Testing

ACIL’s Inter-laboratory Comparison (ILC) Proficiency Testing Program is provided as a service to EMC laboratories wishing to address the requirements of section 5.9 of ISO/IEC 17025:2005. Accrediting bodies and regulators are placing an increasing emphasis on the methods utilized to assure the quality of test results. These week long proficiency tests are intended for any laboratory interested in utilizing an ILC program to meet these requirements.
ACIL’s EMC Committee of the Conformity  Assessment Section (CAS) operates the ongoing program, which offers three different artifacts to address radiated and conducted emission measurements and radiated immunity tests. The test artifacts are owned by ACIL and are circulated successively from one lab to another. This program is a perpetual ILC comparing the last 10 participants. Participants will receive a report comparing their results against 10 laboratories and will keep receiving reports comparing their results to 9 additional laboratories until their results drop from the rotation, effectively 20 inter-comparisons per participant. Program results will be compiled and published by ACIL with the identity of each individual participating laboratory remaining confidential.
Registration is available on a first come, first served basis. The cost for each one week test is $500 for ACIL members and $1000 for non-members, payable at the time of registration.
 York CNEIII

The York Comparison Noise Emitter (CNE III) is a broadband noise source which produces a continuous output from 9 kHz to 2 GHz. The battery operated device includes a BNC output connector for direct measurements. Accessories include a top loaded monopole antenna for radiated measurements and an LISN adaptor for conducted measurements. The ACIL program is designed to determine proficiency of participants in the following test areas:
  • Direct RF Conducted Emissions, 150 kHz to 1 GHz
  • AC Line Conducted Emissions, 0.15 to 30 MHz (ANSI C63.4)
  • Radiated RF Emissions, 30 to 1 GHz (ANSI C63.4)
