Required Measurements

In the ANSI C63.4-2003 (150 kHz – 1 GHz) Scheme, participants are required to make the following kinds of measurements:
  • AC Line Conducted Emissions (on the AC Neutral lead only) Quasi-peak measurements over the frequency range 150 kHz to 30 MHz;
  • Direct Antenna Conducted Emissions Quasi-peak measurements over the frequency range 150 kHz to 30 MHz;
  • Direct Antenna Conducted Emissions Quasi-peak measurements over the frequency range 30 MHz to 1000 MHz.
  • Radiated Emissions Quasi-peak measurements at the 3 m distance, in Horizontal Polarization over the frequency range 30 MHz to 1000 MHz.
  • Radiated Emissions Quasi-peak measurements at the 3 m distance, in Vertical Polarization over the frequency range 30 MHz to 1000 MHz.

Optionally, if the participating EMC Test Lab has a 10m site, participants are required to make the following kinds of measurements:
  • Radiated Emissions Quasi-peak measurements at the 10 m distance, in Horizontal Polarization over the frequency range 30 MHz to 1000 MHz.
  • Radiated Emissions Quasi-peak measurements at the 10 m distance, in Vertical Polarization over the frequency range 30 MHz to 1000 MHz.

Major Equipment and Facilities Pre-requisite Requirements

Major Requirements:
The OATS or RF Semi-Anechoic Chamber Facilities used must meet ONLY the Site Validation criteria of ANSI C63.4-2003.  A Calibrated EMI Receiver or Calibrated Spectrum Analyzer is required.  A Wood Table is required.  Biconical, Log-Periodic and/or Hybrid Antennas that have been calibrated either per ANSI C63.5-1988 or per ANSI C63.5-1998 are required. Note: if your antennas were calibrated per ANSI C63.5-2006, please enroll in the ANSI C63.4-2009 (150 kHz – 1 GHz) Scheme rather than this Scheme.

Prohibited Items:
Time-Domain Receivers are prohibited. The use of EPS (e.g., Styrofoam®) tables, foam columns, and cell-phone support towers are prohibited.
