Ongoing Advocacy
  • Long standing relationships with Federal agencies affecting CMET laboratories, including DOT (FHWA), FAA and the US Army Corp of Engineers (COE)
  • Active state-level lobbying program, most recently addressing perceived conflicts of interest prohibiting testing during both design and construction in Michigan
  • An MOU with NACLA providing confidence to the FHWA that NACLA-recognized accreditation bodies are competent to accredit CMET laboratories
  • On-going relationships with sister trade associations to move the industry forward, e.g., working with AGC to rewrite the contract for construction materials testing services

“As an independent testing laboratory owner for 30 years and an ACIL member for almost as long, I clearly recognize that ACIL is the only national trade association that consistently and effectively represents the interests of the independent laboratory community at all levels of government. ACIL has been and continues to be the industry voice in such important areas as unfair competition, international acceptance of US generated test data and accreditation.” Walter Poggi, President, Retlif Testing Laboratories

“Information obtained at the most recent P2 Conference spearheaded a re-evaluation of our health insurance program, and we found ways to save the company tens of thousands of dollars in annual health insurance costs without significant impact to our employees.”  Stephen Vincent, Former President & CEO, Columbia Analytical Services

ACIL provides several opportunities each year to network with peers, agency stakeholders, customers and industry experts resulting in long-term business relationships that provide direct benefits to member companies.  Some of these opportunities include:

“There is no easier way to access leaders of the independent testing laboratory community than participating in ACIL. As president of a construction materials engineering and testing company, as well as current Chairman of ACIL, I appreciate every opportunity to meet with other testing laboratory owners, as well as manufacturers and suppliers. We are all part of the same industry and together we can create new technologies, new opportunities and increase profitability.” Steven Bowser; President, Bowser-Morner, Inc & ACIL Chairman

“ACIL has been an integral part of Microbac Laboratories for many years. I can safely say that at least $29 million of Microbac revenues are as a direct result of relationships formed right here at the ACIL.” J. Trevor Boyce, Chairman, Microbac Laboratories

“I was able to double my insurance coverage with the same deductible for only about an 18% increase over another quote I had. I was extremely pleased with this year's rate, which was 40% less than last year for the same coverage! Numbers like that go to the bottom line. Don Sweeney, President, DLS Electronic Systems, Inc
