The Value of Independent Testing Laboratories Addressing COVID-19
Contributions of organizations involved in public health diagnostics and protection are especially critical during times of potential public health risks. Testing laboratories’ continued operations are essential to the continuity of all aspects of food, environmental, and product safety, along with public health. Therefore, trained personnel from testing labs will likely need access to some areas that have been closed to the general public. These essential businesses and public health institutions will undoubtedly be a major factor in solving this public health crisis.
ACIL is the nation’s ONLY association representing the independent testing community and as such we believe it is important that we play an active role in crafting responsible cannabis laws and regulations. ACIL neither advocates for, nor against, the legalization of cannabis/hemp, but supports independent testing through well-formulated policies that mitigate bias in research and promotes scientific rigor and integrity to ensure products are safe for end consumers.
Through the Cannabis Working Group (CWG), Independent Laboratories Institute (ILI) is committed to supporting the medical cannabis/hemp industry as it relates to the need for quality, independent testing. Additionally, ILI recognizes the need for standardized testing procedures and laboratory accreditation within the cannabis industry.
